Deal'ers History

One summer night in 2002, a couple of friends had an idea to start motorcycle club. Some of these friends, who were previously part of a motorcycle club sometime back in the late 90’s , wanted a club that runs on old ideals of the “biker brotherhood”, but they wanted to start it with the right friends, friends whom had the same ideals and ethics as them. 2003 came and this band of brothers grew solely due to their passion for riding their bikes. So 1 weekend in July, we were in a super market doing what men do best, braai shopping and the idea of starting a club came up again due to one brother, Fritz Fields who was watching an accident that happened in the Moto GP on the screen, commented that the rider just received a “RAW DEAL”.
Since we all have had a fair amount of raw deals in our lives, on the 2nd August 2003 Fritz Field, Vivienne Lourens, Wayne van Dieman, Grant van Blerk, Darryl Lourens, Quinton and Lynden van Blerk started the process of forming the Club. That was the first official meeting and Raw Deal MC was born on the ideology and foundation of old school biking.
Since the establishment of Raw Deal MC in 2003 the club has sustained the old values of biking and strived towards making biking safe for our members and for our fellow bikers. In keeping with that tradition, the process for becoming a member of the RDMC takes an individual through a hang-around period. After which then sees them go through a minimum of 9 months as a prospect, as the Deal’ers believe that it took 9 months for a ‘you’ to develop and be born so it will take you 9 months to learn and become a Deal’er.
By 2005 the club grew to 15 brothers and then the group started to form smaller groups. These members that split into these new groups, didn’t follow the Deal’ers way and started to bring the club in disrepute. Then it was decided by the few members that still believed in the old ways to release the mistaken-in-mind members and the decision was to run the way we use to. The club decided to re-design the patch, as the previous patch was the remembrance of the misfortune that the club had.
The Deal’ers are now very close friends and enjoy riding and we do not believe that biking is about riding 5 min to a venue, we do not believe that a bike must be pulled out on a Sunday. No sir, we believe that you should live the lifestyle of the brotherhood. So if you want to ride, have fun and enjoy freedom, speak to your local Deal’er and take part in what the Raw Deal’ers are about.
Then maybe, just maybe, you will run home to mommy or your better half and declare:
“I want to become a Deal’er”
To the motorcycle community, we need to come together, ride together and stand together .
