Freedom of the Road

Always when a club comes together to go out for a ride, there is a huge sense of freedom, brotherhood and a feeling that only you and the road exists. The road being open or have others traveling as well, is always inviting, always ready to receive and also unforgiving at times. This is what biking is all about, and sharing it with those around you is what being a part of a club is about.
The Deal’ers took a club run on October 2 2011. We started out at the Engen One Stop on the N1. Family and friends were also involved and went through with a bakkie. The rest, then went through wellington, and then turned onto the road towards Harmon and Gouda. The weather was great, not a cloud in site. Really cooking us in all our gear, but as a biker, you don’t really notice till you stop. Not much traffic to speak about and no crosswinds to battle made for a trip that we won’t forget anytime soon.
After a brief stop in Harmon, and a few discussions, we then headed to Porterville, to have a braai and a lekker Sunday relaxing gathering. Having a section of the dam there to ourselves was really nice as we were surrounded just by nature and good company. No swimming this time, but who knows for the next. A chilled afternoon with loved ones and friends, new ones and ones that went with, was only a perfect ending to a weekend.
Sadly, the time came to pack up and head on home. Weather was still kind to us and so was the road. As a club we would like to thank Edwin and his family (immediate and extended) for the organising of such a wonderful outing.
Let’s hope that it won’t be the last.
